New Plant Species, Anisotaenia ghazanfarii, Discovered and Named in Honor of the Late Dr. Hedayat Ghazanfari
In a significant research achievement, a new species belonging to the Apiaceae family has been identified and described by researchers Dr. Azad Rastegar, Dr. Hossein Maroufi, and Hiwa Ghaderi (M.Sc.). The discovery was made in the forests of the Baneh region, extending towards Sardasht. The new species has been scientifically named Anisotaenia ghazanfarii.
The formal description of this discovery has been published in the international journal Phytotaxa. The species was named in honor of the late Dr. Hedayat Ghazanfari (1968–2020), commemorating his more than two decades of scientific contributions and dedicated service to the management and conservation of the Zagros forests, as well as his efforts in establishing participatory management systems in the northern Zagros.
