1 | Climatology Laboratory | Head of the Department | With an area of 30 square meters, the Climatology Laboratory is located on the ground floor of the Faculty of Natural Resources. In this laboratory, a long-term isothermal map has been provided on a monthly basis for latitudes from 0 to 80 degrees north and longitudes from 0 to 120 degrees east. It has been attached to the wall to help teach practical lessons. In addition, both temperature and precipitation maps of Iran and Kurdistan Province are available in the Climatology Laboratory. There are also six computers on which various geo-statistic software is installed, including ArcGIS, MATLAB, Global Mapper, Surfer, SPSS, Minitab, specialized software such as GrADS, RayMan, EnviMet, and DrinC, and remote sensing (RS) software such as IRDAS, ENVI and IDRISI.
The scientific activities performed in the laboratory include: 1- giving specialized undergraduate courses, particularly practical courses on working with software and programming
2- giving specialized training courses in the field of Climatology
3- holding all MSc classes given the practical nature of the lessons
4- enabling undergraduate and graduate students to conduct their research

1 | Climate Modeling Laboratory | Head of the Department | With an area of 30 square meters, the Climate Modeling Laboratory is located on the first floor of the Faculty of Natural Resources. In this laboratory, there is a supercomputer used for modeling and doing a wide variety of statistical and mathematical calculations with fast processing and high power. There is also a system for instant display of automatic synoptic station data. This laboratory has been set up to enable graduate student research. All the required meteorological and climatological software and applications are installed on the supercomputer and other computers in the laboratory, which graduate students can use to conduct their research and develop their dissertations. In this laboratory, there are various tools and instruments for measurement of atmospheric parameters, including thermometers, hygrometers, pressure gauges, storage rain gauges, temperature hygrometers. Weather reports and coding are other topics that students are acquainted with in this laboratory. |

1 | Climatology Station | Head of the Department | This station is located on the campus, in front of the Faculty of Agriculture, over a land area of 22 × 22 meters. It was launched in 2007 for educational purposes. Inside the station, there are automatic meteorological devices for various atmospheric measurements, including precipitation, temperature, wind direction and speed, humidity, and radiation measurements, which are made automatically. In addition to the automatic devices, there are others for calculation of atmospheric measures, which are reported and read by the weather scout. This station is one of the most important sites for students of Climatology and other fields related to meteorological equipment and methods of recording and reporting data at climatology stations. |

1 | Automatic Synoptic Station | Mohammad Darand | The Automatic Meteorological Station of the University of Kurdistan was built in 2018 in an area of 12 × 12 square meters on the campus, in front of the Faculty of Natural Sciences. All the equipment available at this station is automatic. The station has been established to record data continuously for research and training purposes. All measurable parameters are recorded continuously by sensors every ten minutes. The recorded data are transmitted to a computer in the Climate Modeling Laboratory at the Faculty of Natural Resources using a telecommunications platform. From these data, a report is prepared on a daily basis, which includes all the parameters reported in time series, along with extracted time intervals of three hours from 00:00 to 21:00 at Greenwich Mean Time. |
