A strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the University of Kurdistan and the provincial Directorate-General of Industry, Mine, and Trade, aiming to link the university's academic capacities with the needs of the executive sector.

According to the Public Relations Office of the University of Kurdistan, the MoU was signed at the university in the presence of Dr. Adel Si-o-seh-mordeh, President of the university, and Engineer Mohammad Bakhtiar Khalighi, Director-General of Industry, Mine, and Trade for Kurdistan province.
During the ceremony, the University President described the agreement as a significant step towards systematically integrating science and industry and enhancing the productivity of the province's mines. He emphasized the necessity of continued structured collaborations with executive bodies.
The Director-General of Industry, Mine, and Trade stated that the province's mines require scientific and technological support. "Leveraging university capacities, particularly in applied research and the social responsibility of mines, can play an effective role in the sustainable development of the province," he remarked.
Under this MoU, key initiatives such as allocating internship quotas, defining joint research projects, supporting faculty sabbatical opportunities, and utilizing mines as practical educational and operational spaces will be on the agenda.
Furthermore, both parties stressed the formation of a joint working group to monitor and implement the MoU's provisions. Other key plans envisioned within this collaboration include organizing a specialized mining exhibition at the University of Kurdistan and establishing a mining museum as an educational and cultural platform.
The MoU is valid for three years, and its implementation is expected to foster sustainable cooperation between the university and the mining sector, paving the way for the scientific and economic development of Kurdistan province.
